Quick BTQ 110: specs, price and the boats it fits

The BTQ 110 is Quick’s smallest bow thruster, a neat way to make docking easier on a small cruiser or day boat of about 16 to 25 ft. It sits in a short tube through the hull near the bow and gives about 55 lb of sideways push on 12 V. Quick has built thrusters since 2007, and builders such as Beneteau and Jeanneau fit its units at the factory.

Quick’s US store sells it for $2,184, for the thruster alone. The box holds the thruster, a drilling template and a seal, so see below for the rest. The main extras are a control panel ($465 for Quick’s push-button model), the tube, a fuse and holder, and a battery with its cable and charger, about $1,224 to $1,315 more.

On Quick’s older units the motor brushes are what wear, and Quick asks for a strip-down once a year with a fresh zinc. Quick says plainly that the thruster isn’t meant to run nonstop. Hold it on for roughly 5 minutes 40 seconds and the panel shuts it off for 20 minutes to cool. The US warranty is three years, as long as service is done by someone Quick has authorized.

Fitting it yourself? The installer section has every spec, and the Quick thruster review sets this model against the rest of the Quick range.

How much of the install is yours

DIY 1 of 5: Yard job. A qualified professional does all of it.

DIY levels

  • Level 5: Owner install. No yard, no electrician.
  • Level 4: You fit it, electrician connects. You mount and wire it; a marine electrician makes the final connections.
  • Level 3: Split with the yard. The yard does the below-waterline part; you do the wiring.
  • Level 2: Wiring prep only. The yard fits the unit and does the hull work; you do the wiring prep.
  • Level 1: Yard job. A qualified professional does all of it.

How we rate DIY

You: none Yard: 32 to 70 h Electrician: in the yard’s hours Plus a haul-out.

  1. The whole job: hull, unit and wiring Yard 32 to 70 h The low end is two crew over two days, the job as owners describe it on the forums. The high end rises with boat length between two real billed figures: 32 hours at 35 ft, and the largest invoice we hold, 70 hours at 47 ft.

Quick’s manual: “Installation and subsequent inspection or repair work must only be carried out by qualified personnel.” The manual.

Hours are labor only.

Is it right for your boat?

What Quick says 16 to 25 ft The maker's own range, from its listing
What our sizing says 25 to 27 ft Full thrust in 15 knots. The longest boat of each kind is in the table.

Our figure is the longest boat one unit can steer in a 15 knot wind. It is a range because each kind of boat catches the wind differently. Here a sailboat gets full thrust to 25 ft, and an express cruiser to 27 ft. The maker gives one range for every boat.

The table below tries the Quick BTQ 110 on each kind of boat, at every length that kind of boat is built in. The wind is 15 knots and the rules are the finder’s own. A length counts as a fit when the unit gives the thrust that boat needs at the bow and the maker lists it for that length.

A boat up to 10 percent past the maker’s range still counts here, as it does in the finder. So the table runs up to 27 ft, just past Quick’s own range (16 to 25 ft).

The Quick BTQ 110 against each kind of boat, in a 15 knot wind. Our sizing, from the finder’s own rules.
Boat Full thrust at 15 knotsStill a fit, in lighter wind
Pontoon & tritoon Not listed. A pontoon has no hull body between the logs to bore a tunnel through, and nobody sells one for these boats.
Sailboat 21 to 25 ft 26 to 27 ftfull thrust to about 14 knots at 27 ft
Houseboat No length. Short of the thrust the boat needs.
Catamaran No length. Outside the maker's length range.
Trawler 23 to 25 ft 26 to 27 ftfull thrust to about 14 knots at 27 ft
Motor yacht No length. Outside the maker's length range.
Bass & flats Not listed. Nobody sells a tunnel kit for these hulls, and a bass boat’s shallow planing bow has almost no depth to hold one.
Wake & ski boats Not listed. Nobody sells a tunnel kit for these hulls.
Express cruiser 27 ft only None
Center console No length. More thrust than the boat needs.

Reading the two length columns. The first column is where one unit gives all the thrust the boat needs in 15 knots. The second is where the finder still lists it: the unit falls short of what the boat needs by no more than 10 percent, and gives the whole figure only in the lighter wind named. On a boat shorter than the first column’s shortest length, the unit is more than the boat needs.

It is sized for three kinds of boat here. For your own boat, the finder gives an answer that also counts your drive and who does the fitting. The compare page sets this unit beside others.

What it costs fitted

These totals are our estimate of a yard job: the unit’s price, plus a yard’s hours at $160 to $180 an hour, plus the batteries, cable and charger, plus the other parts the box does not hold. A Lifting the boat out of the water on a travel lift or a trailer so work can be done below the waterline. It is billed separately from the job itself. adds $370 to $1,300 at these lengths, with 5 to 7 days out of the water, worked from eight yards’ own rate cards. The hours come from what owners and yards report. Your own yard will have its own opinion. The cost page builds the same figures line by line.

How the batteries, cable and charger add up. We price a battery bank close to the thruster, as the makers recommend, with 10 to 20 ft of cable out and back: red for the positive, black for the negative, cut to length. The low end is the cheapest battery that meets the figure and the shorter run; the high end is a sealed (AGM) battery and the longer run. The charger is a NOCO GEN5X2 two-bank shore charger.

Batteries and lugs are priced at Fisheries Supply and the cable and charger at Defender, read 12 October 2026.

  • At 12 V: one 12 V battery, at least 450 CCA and 115 Ah (Quick’s minimum), $998 for the battery; Quick’s cable table gives 1 to 1/0 AWG: $80 to $171 for the red and black cable and the lugs; a GEN5X2 charger, $146.

What to weigh

Each point names the fact it rests on.

What to weigh

  • The boat comes out of the water to fit it: it needs a tunnel bore below the waterline. The mounting: a bore through the hull, or a housing recessed into it

What the manual and listings say

This is the note we keep on the Quick BTQ 110, written from the maker’s manual, its product pages and the dealer’s listing.

In the box: The thruster, a drilling template, gasket and O-ring. The TCD panel and the fuse holder are bought.

Our note

The smallest Quick, single propeller in a 110 mm tunnel. Quick is the brand Beneteau, Jeanneau and Hanse fit at the factory, so most owners meet it without having chosen it. The manual gives a 130 A fuse and a weight of 9.3 kg. Its cable is 2 AWG for a total run under 5 m (positive plus negative), 1 AWG to 10 m, 2/0 to 20 m.

The manual prints a fuse and cable sizes but no current draw and no battery figure. No product page gives a run time. The installation manual says the unit is not designed for continuous use and leaves the limit to the control panel. The panel's own manual cuts the command after about five minutes and resets it after a cool-down the panel computes.

The tunnel sits at least three quarters of its diameter below the waterline. Once a year the unit comes apart for inspection, anode included. The warranty runs three years from purchase, with repair or replacement at Quick's discretion. The warranty is void for maintenance by anyone Quick has not authorized or for non-original parts. Removal and refitting are at your cost. The price is Quick's US store's own for this size at 12 V, read 12 October.
